Cooling Protection: How to Stay Cool at Work

The summer heat can be unbearable when you’re at work, which makes it even more important to stay cool and safe during the warmer months. One way to do this is with cooling protection safety clothing, vests, and shirts that have built-in cooling systems that keep you comfortable in even the most sweltering office, and outdoor, environments.

Why do I need a cooling vest?

When you’re working outdoors, there are times when it can be uncomfortable or even dangerous because of high temperatures. Staying cool at work is not only good for your health but also makes it easier to focus on your tasks instead of feeling hot, sweaty, and lethargic. Make sure that you’re prepared by wearing cooling safety clothing. These products are designed specifically with insulation and ventilation in mind so that they help you keep cool without sacrificing protection in harsh weather, or extreme heat workplace conditions.

Who wears cooling vests?

Everyone can benefit from using cooling vests. Whether you spend all day sitting in an office or manual labour in a factory, a cooling vest is perfect for your needs. But who exactly wears these vests? How do they work?

Multi-functional: Cooling safety clothing can be used to help keep workers cool no matter what type of job they have. From construction workers to office workers, everyone will want a cooling vest for summer use when temperatures soar. Other accessories like cooling beanies, sweatbands, and neck scarves/shades are also available.

Cooling vests are not as effective when worn alone

If you’re wearing them outside of a cooling vest, it’s important that you dress in lightweight, breathable clothing that will allow your body to stay cool and dry. This type of fabric is made with thin holes throughout so that water vapor can escape, preventing sweat from accumulating on your skin. Since heat rises when our bodies start producing excess moisture, it’s important to wear breathable clothes designed with plenty of ventilation as well as cooling vests.

Choosing the right cooling vest

When you work in a hot environment, cooling vests are often a good choice. However, not all cooling vests are made equal—in fact, it’s easy to make common mistakes when picking out your vest. Be sure to consider a few key details when shopping for your next cooling vest.

If your company has specific requirements, be sure to check with your workplace safety officer before making any purchases. He or she will likely have information about which vests have been tested and approved by respected workplace safety institutions.

High-visibility: Many cooling vests look similar to normal high-visibility vests, but they can actually differ significantly. Make sure that your vest is both hi-vis, reflective and within safety standard guidelines when working in an industrial setting.
